If you own an XBox 360 or know someone who does, chances are you have encountered or at least heard of problems, most notably the Red Ring Of Death. Microsoft's current console offering has some pretty significant design flaws that cause problems and headaches for some unlucky owners. These flaws and some shoddy assembly techniques have spawned a number of businesses or individuals that claim to fix your problems. Some can get you back to gaming enjoyment and some can't. I work for a company that falls into the former category. When you do electronics repair work, you're going to see some crazy stuff. We see consoles that have been hacked, modded, and repaired in ways that would leave anyone with the most basic understanding of electronics scratching their heads or doubled over with laughter. The sole purpose of this site is to chronicle these ridiculous attempts at repair work and modification, or in some cases mutilation. We also aim to educate XBox 360 owners somewhat, as there are a lot of shady "fixes" available on the web. Some are based on sound logic but merely offer a band-aid to the problem. Others are just plain silly. Others can render your console unusable and worse, unrepairable. We will attempt to separate the fact from the fiction, the hucksters from the professionals. If we can have a few laughs and educate some console owners, then we've done our duty. |
